Yard of the Month—April 2019

8810 River Hollow Drive

Ken and Joanne are both retired Memphis and Shelby County school teachers. Right after they paid off their home nearby in Berryhill, they happened to take a spontaneous walk along our beautiful lake, and discovered a For Salesign on a lakefront home. They fell in love and quickly made an offer. Knowing their new home would be a great getaway for their distant family members, they im- mediately bought fishing poles and a paddle boat. Their next big purchase was on the landscaping.

All the front and side beds have totally been redone by Edison Wingate of Germantown Artistic Land- scape Design. Edison presented the couple with blueprints that included gorgeous bright pink Azal- eas, Hinoki Cypress, large rocks, Mondograss that never needs weeding, a Plum Tree, and they saved the Japanese Maple that had been damaged. In the spring, residents enjoy seeing lush mounds of fuchsia Phlox, and pink and white Indian Hawthornes. Edison suggested Joanne find a focal point for her front bed, and she lucked upon a captivating tractor seat she found in an Oxford, MS. antique store. It is heartbreaking to note that Edison Wingate suddenly passed away just a week before his fabulous designs caught our eye for this stunning Yard of the Month. We send sincere condolences.
